Rachael is originally from Glasgow but moved to Leeds to train at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. After completing Verve, NSCD's postgraduate performance company where she worked with artists including Ben Duke, Lea Anderdon and Jamaal Burkmar as well as receiving the overall outstanding achievement award, Rachael went on to work with WatkinsDance in London and Earthfall in Cardiff. Rachael was also one of the first cohort of dancers to take part in the Kerry Nicholls professional mentoring programme earlier in the year. In 2015 Rachael will return to Cardiff to join Earthfall for their Spring/Autumn tour. 'Fragmented' is a concept that she will continue to explore further into 2015 in collaboration with London based designer Joanna Goodman.
Fragmented is a solo work in progress, which explores the memories of a child's experience of their parents' divorce. Inspired by the subtle use of body language contained within the illustrations of French artist Marion Fayolle, and my own childhood, I will uncover the complex emotions involved through the eyes of the child.
